Susan Brandt Graham, Chair,
PSWD Photography Committee

Susan Brandt Graham, MD, PhD is a board certified Ob/Gyn and social anthropologist. A member of the American Rose Society since 2000, she is an ARS Accredited Horticulture and  Arrangement Judge, and chairs the Pacific Southwest District Photography Committee. She has registered three rose sports, “Yoyo,” “Misty Moonlight,” and “What a Surprize.”

In the summer of 2008, she began working with Bill Farmer to develop a schedule for photography as a separate division in our district rose shows, starting with Albuquerque 2009. They were soon joined by Sally Long, with the majority of the schedule as it stands now being the work of Graham, Farmer, and Long, who formed the core of what became the PSWD Photography Committee. Later, other interested Horticulture and Arrangement judges were added to the committee. 

An award-winning photographer, she has been photographing since being given a Kodak Brownie in childhood; she has subsequently gone through a couple of Nikons, a couple of Canons, and a Leica.  When she acquired a new digital camera in August of 2008, she took a class in digital photography in the University of New Mexico's Continuing Education Digital Arts Program. One thing led to another, and in a year and a half she completed the two year program in Digital Photography, earning all certificates (Beginning and Professional) offered in Digital Photography. Iin addition, she earned a Web Design Basics Certificate. Her current digital camera of choice is a Canon 5D, although you may sometimes see her with a G9, a great little compact digital with RAW capabilities.

In the summer of 2011, she retired from medical practice, and she runs her own photography business.

2010 Rose Show Awards:

Best of Show, Exhibitors Dream, Royal National Rose Society Certificate and Bronze Medal for the best Horticulture entry: 5 stems of 'Mermaid'

In 2010, I also won the American Rose Society Victorian Award with one stem of 'Mermaid"
